On getting a late diagnosis of autism at the age of 40 -- I’ve rewritten this post twenty or so times in the past year. You know it’s an important one when your typing fingers try to say everything but the actual thing your whole self must name. Not because anyone else necessarily needs to hear it. Because you must hear it to integrate a new truth. Because living in alignment with our whole self can never happen without telling ourselves the actual truth.
Between you and me, Jenny, I took the online 'AQ50' test a few weeks ago after reading a news article by a lady who seemed to be describing me in precise detail, and I followed some links in the piece - including to that test. #mindblown
I'm so glad that you've found some answers, and I'm ever so grateful that you've shared your words here. 😘
It’s an incredible process to dig a little deeper. To wonder why some traits might be the way they are. To learn the possible source of some challenges. We’re always pulling those threads while also learning to be grateful for the present moment. Such a dance.
I'm fearful of looking any deeper, but given that I'm already very 'whaaaaaaaaaat?!' about what I've discovered I've perhaps stepped too far to feel comfortable stepping back again! I wonder if I could perhaps simply seek out some resources to help me understand myself better even if I don't go down the assessment route.
SUCH an important post. Thank you, Jenny. ♥️
(you're awesome)
Thank you, friend!

Unmasking Autism by Devon Price is wonderful. The list from Samantha Craft is also helpful: https://the-art-of-autism.com/females-and-aspergers-a-checklist/
Jenny, that's ever so kind of you - gosh, it looks like I was fishing, doesn't it?! I hadn't meant to! But thank you so much. 😘
Love, "We always love people even when we can't see them."
