my ten year old son
bounds down the
stairs most mornings
and i close my laptophe crawls into my lap
and snuggles his head
on my shoulderhe’s getting taller
and has to twist
to find his spotthe day is coming
where we won’t
fit together as easilyuntil then my heart grins
at this growing child
