Selling the house

A poem on being too much + getting smaller

i always thought
i was too much

so i got smaller

i lived for decades 
in a home that didn’t fit

a home designed not for love
but for survival

i didn’t question the 
terrible floor layout
until my body ached 
from entrapment

it finally hurt enough
that i was willing to
sell the house 
and build a
new one

scratch
