Those of you who’ve been around for a bit know that 2022 was a rough year in my world. I went on personal leave from my job and three weeks later, my youngest brother unexpectedly passed away. When we needed community the most, doors we assumed would swing open slammed shut. Later that year I found out I had ADHD and was autistic. If there was ever a season to bury myself in bed, this was the one.
But I chose to use all that free time to slowly show up to the complicated mess of emotions and realities in front of me. I quickly realized tapping out poems on my phone helped. A lot.
It helped me feel emotions as they surfaced.
It helped me make sense of complicated things I didn’t understand.
It helped me ever so slowly continue to heal.
The first collection of poems became Still Here: A Poetry Memoir of Grief & Love. It’s for those trying to make sense of the fragility and terror of losing a loved one. As I journeyed the unbearable with curiosity and trust, I invited readers to unravel the grief that awaits each of us, in the hope that love never dies. They’re still here. So are we.
Now 2024 is wrapping up and it’s time for another collection of poetry written mostly in 2022. I’m telling you, it was a wild year. Heads up — there’s a THIRD collection of poetry I’m sitting on for another year from now!
If Still Here was about entering our grief together, this next one is about entering our pain together.
With all the love in my heart, I introduce you to There She Is: Love Notes on Finding Home!
Here’s the description:
Sometimes we need a little help finding that part of us that shimmers with strength, especially when it gets buried by our complex lives.
As Jenny taps out poems on her phone during a season of wild change and challenge in her own story, she ends up meeting her strong shimmering self in surprising places.
She invites us to take our own journey into the places that ache. We’re encouraged to gently tell the truth about all that emerges. As we learn to show up and trust this journey, we find home in places we never thought to look.
There She Is articulates in simple and accessible language the desire to know ourselves and to live from a space of profound love. When we learn to love ourselves home, it’s how we ever so slowly turn around and whisper in awe, “There she is.”

I recently got to spend a couple days on the Puget Sound for a writing retreat. Setting aside sacred space enabled book details to come together in such a fun way. As much fun as it is to send a book out into the world, the process of creating the cover, laying out poems, designing posts, and inviting support from my circle makes me shimmer with joy. I just love it!
